BOOK CHOICE UPDATE

Hello all,

As it has been pointed out to me that there are challenges in obtaining "Your Consent Is Not Required," I am withdrawing it as my selection for the July book. I'll announce a new selection within a few days.

Cheers,
Colin

Greetings everyone,

The July book will now be "Bland Fanatics: Liberalism, Race and Empire" by Pankaj Mishra. Enjoy the read!

Cheers,
Colin

Hello everyone,

I think we'll once again hold the upcoming book club meeting, on Wednesday, August 9, at Villa Bistro.

In addition, here is the link to an interview with Pankaj Mishra in connection with his earlier book "From the Ruins of Empire" that I think gives a good overview of his thinking: https://brooklynrail.org/2012/12/express/a-view-from-the-east-pankaj-mishra-in-conversation-nbsp

A quote: "The question today is more or less the same question it was for many people in late 19th century: How to find a place of dignity for oneself in this world created by the West, in which the West and its allies in the non-West had reserved the best positions for themselves.”
