Nancy has selected "A Mind Spread Out on the Ground" by Alicia Elliott for The 9th Street Book Club's November read.
I have tentatively identified December 1 for our meeting to discuss this selection.

Hello all,

Thought those reading "A Mind Spread Out on the Ground" would be interested in this: Alicia Elliott on Twitter on the Wet'suwet'en pipeline standoff

The NDP say about Wet'suwet'en, "After more than a century of colonialism the way forward is not simple." But it is. If they truly wanted to uphold UNDRIP, they would demand the RCMP leave. They would impose a moratorium on CGL. They would acknowledge BC is all unceded lands.

That was a very enjoyable meeting yesterday at Villa Bistro. Thanks to the club's Vancouver correspondent for choosing "A Mind Spread Out on the Ground" and participating by sharing her thoughts about it. Next stop, Malcolm Gladwell's "Talking to Strangers."

The Insight section in today's Journal has an article about Amanda Knox, the American woman who spent time in Jail in Italy for a murder she probably wasn't involved in. Alicia Elliott discussed the case in her essay "On Forbidden Rooms and Institutional Forgetting" contained in the book.
